In serious need of blocking
The Tiger Eyes lace scarf is done but is in need of blocking. This is using Scout’s Swag superwash merino sock yarn in Snowbunny colorway. I enjoyed making this scarf, mainly because I liked it enough to not frog it and also that it knits REALLY fast as compared to a sock. I need to get some blocking wires in order to finish it and I was also thinking of adding fringes.
I think I will now do a “My So Called Scarf” using some Lorna’s Laces worsted in Goldhill colorway that I got from my London trip. I was also thinking of doing it using my left over sock yarn either doubling it or casting on a lot of stitches to see what the pattern looks like on a small scale.

Cookie just announced that her new design site is up! While I’m glad I can finally get these patterns, they are not for free. Oh well, I can understand. She really is an amazing designer and deserves a little $$$ for her work. I hope she continues to do free patterns too!!!

Going, going, gone!
OK, so lately I’ve been frogging things so many times. I think it’s because I spent so much money on the yarn that I expect to have something that I REALLY like come out of it. Unexpected poolings in patterns or the pattern just not popping out enough, or whatever. Such is the fate for my Scoutswag yarn. I love the colors of this yarn, but I just couldn’t find a sock pattern that I would be happy with. I mean, I can’t just knit a basic sock with it!!! So gone is crusoe. After I turned the heel, I just wasn’t COMPLETELY happy with it. I mean, if I spend all these hours knitting something, it should be something I’ll use and like.
So, I have decided to knit my first scarf with it. I never really owned a scarf until I moved to Munich. Oh sure, I had them, but never wore them out of necessity. But here you NEED them. I decided on the Tiger Eyes scarf. I’ve done about 2 feet and so far so good. At least I’m happy with it. I think I’ll be even happier when it’s blocked. Which reminds me, does anyone know where I can get blocking wires in Germany?

Frogged Monkey Socks!
So I decided to use the Snowbunny Scoutswag yarn. But what pattern to use? I thought of Hedera, but then changed my mind. Then I thought of “Monkey Socks” and started with that. I had to alter the pattern a bit because it was too small. I knitted a good 3 inches before I decided that I didn’t like the way the colors were pooling and it totally hid the design. So I took a picture (not very good one) and frogged it. I finally decided on Crusoe from Knitty.com. I knitted about 2.5 inches and so far so good. I don’t think I anticipated having too much white in it. I thought it would be more blue/brown. I have to say though, I like the yarn, it’s very soft. When I look at it, it reminds me of neopolitan (sp?) ice cream. Even though it’s blue and not pink. I wonder how this yarn will wear. I think it will wear out sooner than my Lorna’s Laces and Wollmeise yarn, but we’ll see.
For some odd reason, Michael calls the Wollmeise “Weissmies”, I think because that’s how he read it the first time. Even though I correct him a billion times, he still says it wrong.
I also joined two knitting lists, one in German and one in English. The German one is good and bad. Good because I’m practicing German – I even sent a post and got some really nice responses, but bad because I get 200+ emails a day from them and have to sort though my mail. But, I asked about the handarbeit fair in Cologne and someone responded and said it’s only for retailers. Thank goodness I asked! Otherwise I would’ve gone to Cologne for nothing.

OK, so this might be old news to some, but for me I’m excited – Wee Knits 3 is out! I love Mission Falls yarns and Maggs’ designs. I think she has a great style. And her baby knits are oh so cute. Too bad my boys are too old for these things now. Not that they really wore anything that I knitted for them. Maybe gifts??? I will need to put in an order so my parents can bring over the yarn!
