Today I had two packages waiting for me (I know, this after receiving STR and my SP package). One was from Mystical Creations yarns. I bought it on ebay for $12 and figured it had to be OK, not the greatest, but good enough for $12. The pictures made it look really nice. Yeah, the PICTURES. I read on the L&V message boards about Mystical Creations and there were mixed reviews. Some people said it was ok, some people said it was way off. Well, I got mine and one of them was close, one of them was not so close and one of them was not even in the ball park. What I got was ok, and I’m sure if I complain about it, they will tell me to send it back. Well, that costs 8 euros, about what the yarn cost me. But I should say something, maybe they’ll give me this one for free and/or pay for the return shipping. I still have to contact them. Not motivated.
Then, the other package was from flickr friend Obliviate. I mentioned somewhere on flickr that I wanted to try some Hello yarns but they are damn hard to get (the good colors). So what did she do? She sent me a skein of Tough Sock and some other goodies for my birthday. This is someone I never met, and just out of the blue sent me something. Geez, I am so lucky! Thanks so much!!! Look at the colors! And the little sock (made out of fat sock). And the lollies! And the cute postcard! And the magnet (did you see it? I cleverly hid it). Now I gotta think about what to make with it… I’m thinking of just the sock pattern they sent. I think it was a basic

I just put in my order at blue moon. I used up my 10% discount as well as my sister’s gift certificate. And then some. I’m exploding with yarn here people!
After blog stalking some people (heh!), I got invited to Ravelry!!! It is awesome. When it goes live it will be so very cool.
I haven’t been able to get much knitting done because I’m too busy blogging and internet surfing. I am so terrible. I am almost done with the Grasshopper, probably another day or so. Then who knows…I am having such a hard time choosing projects these days.

That is so unacceptable.
That Oblivate is beautiful though. :D

Yeah, I wasn’t too happy with the MCY yarns either. Seriously, the pictures make them look STUNNING. Then you get them and go…oh. She must flash the hell outta them.
Obliviate is so sweet! I send people things randomly too. Maybe I need more “real” friends?
I got an invite to Ravelry too! I will have to add you as my friend. :)

Hey, I came over from Ravelry! I like your blog! I was given a MCY skein and I have to say, I loathe it. It was such a pain in the ass to wind and the gauge is awful – something like 10 sts/in. It doesn’t even feel nice – mine has a greasy residue on it. Ugh. Don’t get me started on MCY.

I would be PISSED!! I can’t believe that. I love what you ordered – but what you got!! Not so much!
I would really be unhappy if I was you. it is not that it isn’t pretty yarn, but it ISN’T what you were expecting!! (although I really am not crazy about the first two).

Well, I wouldn’t even be bothered getting in touch with MCY… their ‘customer service’ does not exist and they just rip you off.
To me that top picture looks like it is roving and thus the yarn you got might have been spun up out of that, or they may just have mixed the pictures up…
I’ve discovered your blog a few days ago and me likes it a lot :)

Oh dear those yarns are sooo not the same. That’s awful!! I would see if they would pay for you to ship them back. They should – it’s a huge error on their part!

Who do I need to stalk to get an invite to Ravalry? I’ve signed up at their site already.

I’m beginning to think that there should be a webring for dissatisfied MCY customers. You’re not the first person that I’ve heard received something totally different than what they ordered. MCY (and their friends) contend that it’s just “jealous”, “hateful” people and competitors that are giving MCY bad publicity, but how can they explain how people who have never met or even heard of each other are having the same experience? (I found your blog while searching for yarn from Wollmeise. The fact that I also had MCY problems is totally coincidental!)
