Just a reminder here for everyone to enter the Knitters Uncensored contest by April 1! If you don’t listen to the podcast, the questions are in the show notes and you can just guess at random for an entry. But keep in mind, it’s not a drawing (so you need to have some amount of it right!). Hey, it’s worth a shot for some German hand dyed yarn and handspun from Elem! ;)
I am plugging along on the Cobblestone. In fact, I have not been able to put it down. I am done with the body and two sleeves, tomorrow I attack the yoke (my first)! It’s amazing how fast I breeze through skeins of Cascade.
Does anyone else have the problem of the cables coming out of their Knit Picks options needles? I do – almost all of mine come out! I finally bought some super glue and glued them back together. On the first one, I had to cut off a part of the end because putting the glue on it makes it too bulky to go back into the metal part. Then on the next ones, I put glue only at the very top so it could slide into the metal easily. I thought there might be issues with the glue gunking up, but I wiped it away before it dried and it was fine. I might not be making sense because it’s 2am now… Well, I’m just happy that I now have my 3 cables back in service!

Contact KnitPicks about your cable. I had a problem with one of mine and they sent a replacement quickly and with no questions asked.

Hi, yes I also had those problems with my cables. apparently it’s pretty common… i want to blame it on bad quality check when packing. I think the customer service is used to that, since across the boards, they replace it without questions… if they do so, then it seems like it’s a common problem no?
i just stuffed the cable back and then clamped it down with some wire clamps. and it works ok.

my cables come out also. I contacted KP the first 2 times and they sent me replacements, but after that I just started super gluing….works just as well!

KP options– The cables have been fine for me, but my mom borrowed a 10 and pulled the cable right out. It’s in a tenuous state, but I’m not planning to email for a replacement until I can verify that I can’t glue the sucker back together!!!
If all hope is lost and you do need a replacement, I have a ‘convoy’ from Germany flying back and forth in early April. (My Sockapalooza 4 pal is coming to visit.) We’re meeting up at a Yarn Harlot event, and I’m sure she could easily pop a package in the mail to you from Hamburg to Munich. Of course, I’d need to verify that this would be o.k. with her first. :)

Re: the kp needles. It may be worth a phone call to them to let them know of your trouble. They’ve always been really great with customer service.

Thanks for the advice of trimming the cable. I just got a new set of 40″ cords and the next day, one popped out. Tried to glue it, but like you, it got too bulky. (duh me, just trim it) Oh well, they sent me new ones, but I know it would be hard for you.
